Taste and See That The Lord is Good

A MUST READ STORY BY EVERYONE •<

A security guard was found sleeping at work. He was fired on the spot. He cried a lot. Then a young man saw him crying. He went to him to hear his story. The man said, "the reason why I slept at work is because, I was at an all night prayer. I didn't have time to sleep. I have been praying for a better job. But the LORD hasn't answered my prayer. But I don't mind waiting. Even if it takes me 20 yrs, am waiting for GOD". The young man said, "your prayers have been heard. I'm going to employ you in my company. I'm going to pay for all your studies." This was a dream come true for this man.

Moral of the story; Pray until something happens. I pray for you, God will make your dreams to come to pass in one way or the other in the Mighty name of Jesus! Only those who believe that God can still do wonders should comment 'Amen' to claim this prayer and they will testify in a very short period. Just try God and see.

Someone please say "Amen"

Grand Mother Sold Baby Ror NGN200,000 In Jos

An eight-month-old baby, Chiamaka Obinna, who was allegedly sold by her grandmother for N200,000 and taken from Jos to Onitsha, has been found about one week later and re-united with her mother.

It was gathered that the baby’s grandmother (names withheld), who lived at Rukuba Road by Graffiti Hotel in Jos had on July 19, this year, sent her daughter, who is the mother of the baby on an errand and sent away her other children apparently to pave way for her to dispose of the baby.

Thereafter, some women came to her house and she allegedly gave the baby to them. Unknown to her, some of the neighbors saw her remove the baby from her back and handed her over to the strangers.

When the mother of the baby who gave her name as Blessing Gods power, returned and asked of her baby, her mother feigned ignorance of her whereabouts, saying she must have been taken away by her other children. But when the grandmother’s other children returned and Chiamaka was not with them, Blessing raised the alarm.

This attracted the neighbors, who informed that they saw her mother handing over the baby to some people. She denied the claim and the matter was reported to the police.

However, during interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed selling the baby to one Eucharia, who had in turn, taken the baby to Awka in Anambra State and sold it to one Rita for N330,000.

Rita in turn, sold the baby to one Grace for N500,000. The grandmother was said to have told her interrogators that she was yet to receive her share of the illicit deal before the bubble burst.

The state police commissioner in Plateau State, Mr Chris Olakpe said the baby was recovered at Awka on July 24, 2013 through the intelligence of detectives of the command.

He said that upon interrogation, the suspect stated that she sold the baby because her daughter was not taking proper care of her and that she did it with her consent.

But the baby’s mother denied knowledge of the intention to sell her baby, saying as a mother, there was no way she would put up her baby for sale.

Four Nigerian Students Generate Electricity from Urine

Nothing is really a waste in the real sense of the word. Almost anything one can think of is reusable. Everything has some value one way or the other. This was what four teenage secondary school girls in Lagos set out to prove.

Disturbed by the incessant deaths of Nigerians, most of the time, an entire family, from carbon monoxide poisoning from fossil-fuel generator, the yo-yo movement of petroleum products prices, environmental degradation and the recent fuel subsidy scam, four Senior Secondary School II students of Doregos Private Academy, Ipaja, Lagos, decided to find solution to the problem. In a chat with Vanguard Learning, the girls – Duro-Aina Adebola, Bello Eniola, Akindele Abiola and Faleke Oluwatoyin, shed some some light on the project and what they hope to achieve. Excerpts:

An idea is born:
Said Duro-Aina Adebola, leader of the group; “I read on the internet that a family of five died of carbon monoxide poisoning so I asked myself what could be done to reduce these incessant deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning?

“We were always encouraged to bring up ideas to help solve human problems so one day, we were in the Guest Room of our school; we thought of what could be done to solve this problem. We thought of what we could use to power the generator instead of using the conventional fuel, something that can replace conventional fuels and that will not release any obnoxious substance like carbon monoxide into the environment; something that will also be cheap for Nigerians. You know that when the issue of fuel subsidy removal came up, there was hike in prices of petroleum products,” she said.

‘A problem well stated is a problem half solved,’ according to Charles Kettering, so having identified the problem, the girls moved on to seek solution.

“We started looking at various materials. We looked at water but we felt that the amount of voltage it will take to break the water molecule is large and we wanted something small so we can have a larger output. We decided to look at waste products because Nigerians always opt for something they won’t have to spend their money on. So we started looking at different materials, one of which was urine. We were looking for something that is liquid, something that has hydrogen molecules in it. We also observed that the amount of voltage it takes to break a urine molecule is less than the amount it takes to break the hydrogen molecule in water. So we opted for urine since we have a higher output,” she said.

The generator:
“The generator is a conventional fuel-based generator. It combusts slower than the hydrogen gas so we had to slowpoke the ignition of the generator. We actually slow the back-timing on the generator by 11 degrees.”

Components:
“We have an electrolytic cell, water filter, an empty gas can, borax and our slow generator. The electrolytic cell is an old battery cell we got from the junk yard; we removed the contents of the cell and then used perforated stainless steel mesh as the electrodes so urine is placed in the electrolytic cell, where it is electrolyzed, releasing hydrogen-oxygen gas mixture. This mixture then goes into the water filter. The water filter is to remove any impurities that might have come in with the gas and then it goes into an empty gas cylinder which serves as the gas storage.

“The gas cylinder pushes hydrogen into a cylinder of liquid borax, which is used to remove the moisture from the hydrogen gas. Borax serves as a drying agent and this is because we do not want lots of moisture going into the generator. Also, borax helps to remove any other impurities that might have come in with the gas. The purified hydrogen gas is then pushed into the generator,” she explained.

Asked how much it will cost to acquire a unit, she said; “It’s something we are still working on because this is a prototype which cost us about N4,000 apart from the generator. We are working on improving this so it can just be our own generator, a Nigeria-made generator that works based on urine.

Advantages: For this generator, the exhaust gas is the water vapor. It does not emit carbon monoxide like the normal fuel-based generator so this ensures clean environment for Nigerians. Again, one litre of urine can give you six hours of electricity.

Appeal:
“We are appealing to people to build up on what we have done. They should take up the idea and help us to improve on it so that it can be something that can be in every Nigerian home because this was not made to be lying around; it was made to be used by Nigerians. All we need is support so we can take it to the next level. We want a situation where every home can have this. We also want to make it compact so you don’t have to have different compartments, they can all be in a single unit that can just be attached to a generator.”

Other projects:
The students are currently working on other projects like bomb detecting radar, motor bike safety device and also paper from maize straw (agricultural waste), to save our trees and environment.

FG Will Retaliate Against UK Visa Bond

THE Federal Government on Tuesday insisted on retaliatory action against British citizens if their government went ahead with its plan to impose a £3, 000 visa bond on visitors from Nigeria and five other Commonwealth countries.

It expressed displeasure that Downing Street, which had already set November as the discriminatory policy’s commencement time, had not deemed it necessary to formally communicate to it on the next step of action.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, had at a meeting with the British High Commissioner, Andrew Pocock, conveyed the desire of Nigeria to retaliate the policy.

The spokesperson for the ministry , Ogbole Ode, said in a statement in Abuja, that the British authorities were already aware of the Federal Government’s position on the matter.

The statement reads, “Media reports in Nigeria on Monday, July 29, 2013, indicated that the United Kingdom Government will begin to implement from November, 2013, the £3,000 cash bond for first-time visa applicants from Nigeria, and five other Commonwealth countries. The other countries are India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. These media reports themselves were quoting the Financial Times of London.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to receive any official communication on the final decision of the UK government on this matter. The Federal Government has already conveyed its objection to the bond payment to the UK government. This was done when the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ashiru, summoned the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Andrew Pocock, to the Tafawa Balewa House, on June 25, 2013.

“If and when a communication to that effect is received, the Federal Government will take appropriate steps to reflect its national interest. ”

When contacted, the spokesman for the British High Commission in Abuja, Rob Fitzpatrick, said, “No final decision has been made” on the controversial policy.

He said, “As British Prime Minister David Cameron has said, we want the brightest and the best to help create the jobs and growth that will enable Britain to compete in the global race. So, for example, if you are an overseas businessman seeking to invest and trade with world class businesses, one of the thousands of legitimate students keen to study at our first-class universities or a tourist visiting our world class attractions, be in no doubt: Britain is open for business.”

It will be recalled that Ashiru, at the meeting with Pocock, warned that the government would retaliate the discriminatory policy.

On Monday the British government defended a campaign advising illegal immigrants to “go home or face arrest.”

Two trucks, each displaying a large poster with a number for migrants to send text messages if they desired to return to their countries , were seen in six London boroughs for a week.

It was learnt that posters, leaflets and advertisements in newspapers would run for a month to further promote the campaign, a pilot scheme by the interior ministry.

A member of the Liberal Democrat Party, the junior partner in the coalition government with the Conservative Party and Business Secretary, Vince Cable, called the campaign “silly and offensive.”

The opposition Labour Party’s home affairs spokeswoman, Yvette Cooper, also said the scheme was “ludicrous.”

But Prime Minister David Cameron’s spokesman defended the campaign, saying it was clear that it was “already working” as some illegal immigrants had voluntarily agreed to leave the UK
